Tag Archive: Rewards

The rewards of reciting the Quran are many.

An authentic hadith in At-Tirmithee states:  Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said

Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well.

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2910; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2327

In another hadeeth, ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, relates that the Prophet (sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said:

“Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

“Whatever is with you, will be exhausted, and whatever is with Allah (of good deeds) will remain.”

[Qur’an – Surah Al-Nahl 16:96]

Allah’s Messenger [صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم] said:

“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except three:

  • ongoing charity,
  • beneficial knowledge and
  • righteous offspring who will pray for him.”

[SahihMuslim: 3084]

Narrated Abu Hurairah [رضی اللّٰہُ عنہ]:

Allah’s Messenger [صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم] said:

“The good deeds that will reach a believer after his death are: knowledge which he learned and then spread; a righteous son whom he leaves behind; a copy of the Qur’an that he leaves as a legacy; a mosque that he built; a house that he built for wayfarers; a canal that he dug; or charity that he gave during his lifetime when he was in good health. These deeds will reach him after his death.”

[Ibn Majah: 224]
